Four years ago, my little girl decided she wanted to take dance lessons. I mean, what little girl doesn't want to be a ballerina? So we took her to a local dance studio and enrolled her. What we didn't realize was how wonderful her dance teacher would be, and just how much of special part of our lives she would become.
Well, in 2008, she became a grandmother to a precious little girl, Britton, and her pride and joy in bearing that title was evident. Even more evident was that Britton didn't have a chance in the world of NOT being a dancer. It was through this relationship that I was asked to commemorate Britton's two-year milestone. What an honor it was, too.
We chose to do our session at the Oaklawn Gardens historic park in Germantown. If you haven't been there, it's well worth the trip. Nestled in the trees where the railroad tracks cross Poplar Pike, just east of Germantown High School, Oaklawn Gardens has literally dozens of great photographic spots, all within a few yards of each other; from barns and sheds, to old rustic farm implements and beautiful open fields.
We were still on the early edge of fall, but a few trees had already shed their leaves. This made for some great fall shots.
Of course, at two years old, we only had her attention for a short while, so we let her run free for a bit...
We also wanted to get a good photograph of the whole family together...
And finally, she was willing to let us get one more take before we called it a night, and it turned out to be one of my favorites.
Hope you enjoyed them!
Blessings,
